Jeera Rice

Ingredients –

  1. Basmati Rice – 1 Cup
  2. Jeera – 1 teaspoon
  3. Salt – as per taste
  4. Refined Oil – 3-4 teaspoons
  5. Water – 2 Cups

Method –

Clean, wash and soak basmati rice in 2 Cups of water for 30 minutes (soaking time could vary according to the brand of rice you use).

Heat the oil in a pressure cooker on low flame. Add jeera and salt in to it and mix well.

Now add water to the rice and cover the pressure cooker for 2 whistles on high flames. Do not open the cooker until complete steam from cooker is gone. Stir gently, so that rice do not break. Jeera Rice is ready to serve and you can serve Jeera Rice now on bowl or plate.

Serving Tip:

Always follow the 1:2 ratio of rice and water if you are cooking in a pressure and 1:3 ratio if cooking in a pan. Large amount of water makes the rice sticky. If you add few drops lemon on the rice when you open the pressure cooker, it will give very fine grains of rice.

Serve the Jeera Rice with Dal or other curries.
