Moong Dal Halwa
For Moong Dal Halwa –
- Moong Dal – 2 Cups
- Desi Ghee – 2 Cups
- Sugar – 1 Cup
- Mixed Dry fruits – 1 Cup (chopped)
- Water – 2 Cups
Wash moong dal thoroughly and soak it overnight with plenty of water. Next day, grind the dal in mixer and do not add any water to it as it was soaked and had enough water in to it.
Prepare sugar syrup on by mixing water and sugar in a pan and bring it to boil. Remember to set it up on medium flame so that it does not get burn. Once the sugar get dissolved in to water and forms one thread consistency (which does not break on pulling apart) it is ready to use for halwa.
Now in a non-stick pan, heat desi ghee on medium flame. Once it get warm, add moong dal paste and stir frequently so that it does not get stick to the pan. Cook the paste until it turn golden brown in colour.
Now add sugar syrup in to the cooked paste and mix it well. Stir continuously on medium flame for 5-7 minutes or until it get blend with the paste.
Finally add mixed dry fruits to the moong dal halwa and it is ready to serve.
Serving Tip –
Serve moong dal halwa hot as dessert after meals.
